Welcome to Sydney

I arrived in Sydney yesterday without any complications. The flight itself was delightful except the 50 babies on board screaming into my ear, but again, for what do I have my iPod.

I had pre-booked a shuttle from the airport to the hostel to avoid any hassle and confusion, otherwise I might have ended up in the middle of nowhere with my sense for orientation. And it was even cheaper than the price they told me over the phone, I only paid 12$
The hostel I booked for the first nights in Sydney is the Bounce Hotel, opposite the Central Station. A very fine hostel which was recommended by another traveller I met in Melbourne (THANK YOU Cliff :) ) Very clean and tidy and a very large kitchen as well as a great rooftop garden.

As soon as I had updated my blog I went out to get some dinner. I had a little shock when I walked down the road. So many people, after Tasmania it was just too much to handle. After I ate quickly something I went back to the hostel instead of exploring the city. I started my job hunt.
I had a good night sleep and slept in this morning (because I can). I continued my job hunt and secured a trial shift in a restaurant tonight. Because I didn’t know where it was I checked out the area until I found it. Afterwards I continued to explore the city a little bit.

Anzac Memorial

St. Marys Cathedral

Potts Point

I gave a friend of a friend a quick call and asked if we could meet for a coffee. Luckily she said yes :D
She took me to the Buddha’s Birthday Celebration Festival as well as to the Pancake Parlour for some dessert. It is great to have someone explaining to you the surrounding compared to finding everything yourself.

Tumbalong Park

Pymont Bridge

Cockle Bay Wharf

Thank you for a lovely afternoon :)

After a really good dessert and milkshake I went to the restaurant and started my trial shift. I am not sure how it worked out for me; they will let me know tomorrow. But I have the feeling I am not experienced enough for them e. g. I only could carry three plates compared to the 4-5 plates they did and I wasn’t quick enough. Just my feeling but I keep you posted. If that doesn’t work out I will continue looking. At first I wanted to finally start a farming job, unfortunately there are not a lot around Sydney at the moment because the season is nearly finished. I might do it now in Queensland instead, we will see.

So far I have a really good impression of Sydney and like it. I like the people and the atmosphere. After just 24 hours I am used to the city again and the shock from yesterday is gone.
I have the feeling that every time I arrive in a new city/country I miss my friends and family the most. Always at this point I feel lonely and start thinking to stop my travels and just return to a normal and settled live. But I am sure the feeling is soon gone again :) I know I love traveling too much at the moment to stop already.

I hope everyone out there is good and happy. Oh and before I forget I missed my mama the most today, it was mothers day and I couldn’t be with her :( Hab dich ganz doll lieb Mama :D
